Frå Elektriske Skogar

Frå Elektriske Skogar (From Electric Forests) – Children's Show

“From Electric Forests” is built around the dialogue between two musicians and two dancers – four performers, each with their own strong and distinct expression. Throughout the performance, the lead in the dialogue shifts, and different encounters arise. Both music and dance take center stage, and the individual expressions are allowed to flourish in their meetings with each other. The performers cross into each other’s domains, and boundaries are broken down. The musicians become part of the movement, and a contact-sensitive glowing device gives the dancers the possibility to directly influence the soundscape, beyond the musicians’ control. Touch also changes the glow of the device, thereby granting the power to alter the framework of the entire audiovisual expression on stage, connecting sound, dance, and light in a narrative way.

About the Performance
Two dancers, two musicians, and a glowing device invite us into an asteroid dance in a universe of small, fragile planets. Here, tones from electric forests set movement into motion, and the dance of celestial bodies creates light. *From Electric Forests* is a performance about encounters. It is built around the stage dialogue between two musicians and two dancers. In the spirit of dialogue, who leads is constantly shifting – whether it is a performer, the music, or the dance. The boundaries between musicians and dancers are broken down through various means. The musicians take part in movement, and a contact-sensitive glowing device alters both the musicians’ soundscape and its own light, beyond the musicians’ control. The device gives the dancers a direct possibility to influence the musical dimension and contributes to democratizing the soundscape emerging from the stage, as well as pedagogically connecting sound, dance, and light for the audience. The performers come from very different backgrounds and meet in a melting pot of a performance. Eiliv brings improvisation and folk music in a global understanding of the word. Øystein brings his electronic approach to sound with a wide palette of tones and sonic images. Shelmith is strongly rooted in contemporary dance. Nichola has solid experience with classical Indian dance forms. The production has been developed in collaboration with Samspill International Music Network and Riksscenen. Directed by Silje Onstad Hålien.
